General Discussion / Facebook and YouTube Not for Support
« on: May 14, 2017, 09:41:27 PM »
Previosuly, it was listed in all my add-ons but I occasionally made exceptions depending on how urgent it seemed.

However as of this moment, you WILL be ignored by me if you ask on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter for support on the following add-ons. If you personal message me about these add-ons, I'll also ignore those message, as there is already the support forums with multiple people available to help you. There is no reason why you need to One-on-one with me all the time especially considering thousands of people do it all at the same time.

  • New Flyer Powertrain Mod
  • Cayuga USA v0.6+
  • Grundelphia
  • Liberty Map

Once again if you ask on Facebook, twitter, or YouTube for support on these mods, do NOT expect to get an answer from me. Thanks.

General Support / How to Access OMSI 2 Editor
« on: May 13, 2017, 03:07:41 PM »
A very crucial function in OMSI 2 is so near-impossible to get to without the know how (or previously having OMSI 1 and just knowing how to get to it).

Step one: Open up steam, and right click OMSI 2 in the library to bring up the menu.

Step two: select "properties" and when the secondary window comes up, select the "Local Files" tab. You can kinda guess the next step

Yeah, select browse local files, find "OMSI.exe" in the folder that comes up and create a shortcut of it.

Right-click the label and then under targer, add [space]-editor at the end

You can rename the actual shortcut file and put it wherever after you're done this step, and it will forever work (although there's one more step). When you click on the shortcut, you have to go back into steam sometimes because a warning message comes up to confirm you are the one who tried to launch OMSI in this manner. Just click okay and then OMSI 2 Editor will load. You're done.

KK Bye bye.

General Discussion / How To Paint OMSI Cars in .tga or .dds format
« on: May 13, 2017, 01:47:41 PM »
Since this tutorial applies to almost every type of vehicle, It won't my one of those exclusive to Chicago type things.

What you'll need for this is:
DXTBmp
A decent image editor (of your choice).

So first what you want to do is go into the folder of the vehicle you wish to paint. For the sake of this tutorial, I will use the Chicago police car (since that's the most requested).

Now that you've gotten to the folder you want, go to the texture folder find an actual texture file relevant to the vehicle.

Open the file with DXTBmp, and you'll be greeted with a screen that shows the texture and a few controls, including the alpha map. When you do this, make sure you set the editor to be your image editor.

You haven't edited yet! Now you go to the bottom of the screen, click the downward pointing arrow button and then edit the image in your image editor. Once you're done, save the image and then click the upward pointing arrow in DXTbmp.

Then all you have to do is save the image and you're done. Kk bye bye.

General Discussion / Do You Have the Chicago Addon?
« on: May 02, 2017, 01:22:21 AM »
I noticed that there's quite a few people who don't have it and by association cannot run any of the maps featured on this site.

So my question is... Do you have the Chicago add-on?

And for those that don't, would you be interested in future released maps if they didn't depend on the Chicago Addon.

And for those that do, would you be upset if Chicago wasn't mandatory?

General Discussion / Disproven Lies.
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:48:07 PM »
Initially I had posted some time ago that Liberty and Grundelphia updates were put on hold due to hard drive failure, and I put a link in my signature for people to contribute to helping me get back into developing, and asked multiple times via facebook and even YouTube for people to contribute to a fund to get me back into developing. However, after about 2 months of attempting to get donations/funding towards making new content, not a single cent was contributed. I still do not have a computer capable of running OMSI 2 stable enough to run editor and thus I cannot progress with development. Even if I did, the complete and utter lack of support has driven away my motivation to continue develop these maps. As much as I have enjoyed making the maps, I strongly believe that the efforts I made were wasted (hence why I started focusing more on my second channel on YouTube than my OMSI channel).

With that being said, the Grundelphia and Liberty updates are completely cancelled. I am sorry for those who really wanted to see the new updates in action, but honestly there's nothing I can do about it at this point.

Happy Holidays!

I think today is the safest day to say: Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Hanukkah. Happy Holidays to all, and to all happy holidays. May your day be filled with warm memories and happy stuff.
Or work, depending on if that's what the case may be.

So far I got Euro Truck Sim 2 for and some extra content for like $4. Did anyone else take advantage of Steam's holiday sales (or any gaming holiday sales)?

General Discussion / Things to Do in Cayuga USA
« on: December 21, 2016, 06:04:50 PM »
So I know everyone here says they  <3  Cayuga, but did you know about the hidden gems in Cayuga USA? Below is a list of things to do and find in Cayuga USA

Hidden Buses:

You may noticed that there are buses randomly parked across the map here is a list of all the hidden buses (not Cayuga Exclusive) as of the December 21st release of Cayuga USA:

2 BVG Buses - One of them I have pointed out in a video, the other you'll have to find on your own.
2 CTY Buses - Originally, the map was plagued with CTY buses as place holders. NOW, there are only two.
2 MTA NYC Buses - Considering that Cayuga is indirectly connected to Liberty, there's bound to be some carry over. Two MTA NYC buses were stolen from Liberty and placed in Cayuga

Easter Eggs

Like in Liberty, there are several easter eggs in Cayuga I would tell you where they are and what to look for, but that'd just be sad. I will point out, however, that one of them lies in the AI. When riding along Market Street, you'll see an AI route 17 with the sign reading either FRONT-MARKET or 20th-JOHNSTON. This pays direct hommage to Grundelphia and the planned but canned release of route 17, which eventually led to the development of Grundelphia 3.0 (later merged into Cayuga)

See some sights

Don't want to drive a route? No problem! The Blue helpers lead you to various points of interest, enabling you to explore the map without hitting dead ends. Attatched is a map of the interstate system in Cayuga so that you know which direction to go for each exit. Local blue helpers also lead to points of interest like Waterfront Museum, Keswick Overwatch, and more!

My question to you guys is this: How much have you discovered already? And how much more are you willing to do knowing what is in the map already?

General Support / Loading up Add-On Maps for the First Time
« on: December 21, 2016, 12:12:23 PM »
Hello All, It's Dash515 here with yet another OMSI 2 Tutorial

I noticed that a lot of people have either encountered the "map not found" error when starting a new map, was able to start a new map but then had it crash with an error saying "Last situation could not be loaded," or simply did not see it in the drop-down menu. This tutorial will show you how to figure out whether or not your map is there, and also enable you to play it for the first time without any problems (unless you have missing dependencies, which in that case you should follow THIS TUTORIAL instead.

Getting ALL Maps to Show Up in the Drop-down Menu

When you first start OMSI, you are often greeted with this familiar scene:

However, when you select the drop down menu, you may notice a map you have downloaded is missing.

The solution is simple. There is nothing wrong with the maps or the game, it just means not all the maps have a last situation (which for stability reasons, they shouldn't have last situations to load in the first place if you've never run them). All you have to do is select the option that says "Load Map without buses" then go back into the drop down menu and all your maps should appear.

Now you can select your map and continue to the next step

First Run

When you run the map for the first time, always make sure that you have "load map without buses" selected to ensure that your map loads WITHOUT depending on the last situation the developer of the map was using. More than likely they used a bus that you may not have and starting the game would cause it to crash. Or. The coordinates of the location where the developer last was do not match that of your version of OMSI, also causing the map to crash.

Best time

Always remember to set the time to noon upon the first run of a map as well. Not because of security or stability but rather since OMSI editor always starts at noon and extends to night, the map was likely optimized to run well at noon. This is optional, but recommended.

Load Whole Map at Start

This setting, although it can cause ram issues, is the best way to know right away whether or not you are missing objects for the map. You can find this in the Options menu under "advanced." If when you start the map with these settings, the map instantly loads up the blue sky glitch, you can transition over to this tutorial and figure out what is missing. The game does not do the "blue sky glitch" when "load whole map at start" is not enabled, instead only the tiles with missing objects refuse to load (unless the tile you start on is the tile with missing objects). If everything is fine, you can go back into options, disable this setting, then play the game normally.

START ER UP!

Now that we've gotten everything situated you can start up the map. If something still goes wrong, it's best if you go over to the troubleshooting tutorial to figure out what to do next.

Thank you for reading, and have a great day!

Website News / Portal Overhauled
« on: December 20, 2016, 12:10:40 AM »
WHOA WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

So you guys may have noticed that the home page looks completely different. You may have also noticed that there is a new shoutbox. Here's why...

Where is the original home page?

The original portal software had completely clunked out so I had to install a new one. The site went down for about 3 minutes during the process. Very few people noticed, but it was still good that I caught it. Sorry for those that enjoyed seeing their arcade scores displayed on the homepage. Fortunately the trophies still show up in all your posts

So what's what this new one?

Nothing. It's just more stable. I introduced a random gallery image on the home page, which would come up when you link to the page. You're welcome. There isn't anything really new about the new home page outside of the shoutbox. No it's not quite a chatroom (as it doesn't auto-refresh) but it's a spritual successor to the original shoutbox. It will be at the bottom of the home page as well as the forum page.

Thank you for visiting Virtual Transportation Center, we hope your stay was good! Stay tuned to get all the latest news and updates related to the site!

General Discussion / Grundelphia and Liberty Updates Delayed
« on: December 19, 2016, 06:49:59 PM »
This was supposed to be good news, but instead it's bad.

Originally, I was going to surprise everyone with Liberty v0.3 (minus the airport addition) and Grundelphia 2017 come Christmas day

HOWEVER

The hard drive with all the content on it has died, and none of the backups of either map contains recent enough data to continue forward with a December 25th release. So with that in mind, I truly hope you guys enjoyed the Cayuga USA release/update.

I am very very sorry for the inconvenience and empty stockings.
